CST300 Module 5

Part One: Support and Comment on Teammates' Goals

Part Two: Possible Capstone Ideas

  1. Peer-to-peer file synchronization program.
  2. Interactive x86-64asm disassembler with control flow visualization.
  3. A simple x86-64 debugger / profiler.

Part Three: Keep Up With Your Learning Journal

This week in lecture had us reviewing past capstone project presentations, and encouraged us to think of what we might eventually want to do. Module 5 also introduced the final group video project, so resources on video editing and making YouTube videos were also a part of lecture.

Writing lab continued to be focused on our ethics argument paper. The topic for this week’s discussion was logical fallacies; students had to find an example of a logical fallacy on the internet, and explain how the statement constituted a fallacy.

The extra credit module dealt with conflict strategies, and how to strategically apply them. The two main factors that determine how you should handle a conflict include: how personally important the outcome is, and how important the relationship of those involved is. For example, if you are extremely concerned with the outcome of a conflict, and this might be the only time you ever interact with the opposition, a forcing strategy might be warranted.
